Beginning June 26

“FMWR asks for your patience while we work with the new Marquees at Van Deman Gate and Irwin Street by the Thunder Mountain Activity Center.  You may see blurry, or bright images as we work with connectivity and software issues, but we hope to have the marquees operational and delivering clear information to you soon.”

-From now through Aug. 2, Irwin Outdoor Pool is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday. For holidays and training holidays during that time, they are open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Barnes Indoor Pool Summer Hours: open only 5 a.m.-8 a.m., Mon.-Fri., for Lap Swim and PT. For more information, call 533-3853.

-The Sportsman’s Center is now open Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Range 3 is open 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. both days. For more information, call 533-6707/533-7085.

-The MWR batting cages, located off Hatfield across from the Mini Mall, are now operational and open to the public during daylight hours! (We are still working on a timer for the lights.) The cost is 4 quarters (25 cents) for 10 pitches. Users must bring quarters, since no change machine is available. Slow and fast pitch softball and baseball lanes are available. -Yardley Community Center, located across from Eifler Fitness Center in the former Yardley Dining Facility, is now open during the following hours: TICKET SALES, Monday- Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; OPEN REC, Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; SNACK BAR, Thursday TBA, Friday 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, call 533-2404 or stop in at Building 80504, two doors from the Military Clothing Sales Store.

-The MWR Arts & Crafts Center offers Advanced Pottery Class Saturdays, July 1, 8, 15, 23 and 29, 9 a.m. – noon. Cost is $75 for the five classes. For more information, or to register, 533-5550/533-2015 or stop in at the Arts & Crafts Center, Building 52008, Arizona Street.

-Buffalo Corral Horseback Riding Stables now offers two-hour, guided sunset trail rides every Friday AND Saturday. Exact time depends upon the season. -The MWR Arts & Crafts Center offers Pick-It-and-Paint Ceramics every Friday and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Pick out a ready-to-paint cast ceramic piece and paint it any way you want. They have something for everyone–from dinosaurs to coffee cups. Costs vary depending on pieces selected. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. -Thunder Mountain Activity Centre’s lunch buffet is now served Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu features: Wednesdays, TMAC will be “Famous BBQ Ribs,” and other BBQ selections and sides–Just what you need to get over your mid-week hunger; Thursday features German food, with “Taste of the Rhine;” and Friday they offer the “Fried Fish and Chicken Friday” featuring hand-breaded cod and chicken. Cost of the lunch buffet is $9.95 for adults or $4.75 for children 5-11 years old. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage. -Child and Youth Services SKIESUnlimited Program, along with the Missoula Children’s Theatre, will present the following theater workshops for youth beginning at 3 p.m. each day at Murr Community Center: Tuesday, June 27, “Improv” for students in Grades 1-3; Wed., June 28, “Let’s Makeup” for Grades 4-7; and Thurs. June 29, “Acting” for grades 8-12. Cost is free, but all students must be registered with CYS, and must pre-register for the workshops starting May 29 at Parent central Services, Bldg. 51301, 533-0738. -The local qualifying races for the 2017 Army 10-Miler, to be held Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C., will be conducted July 15 and Aug. 12 beginning at 6 a.m. at Brainard Road, west of JITC. Active Duty personnel who will be assigned to Fort Huachuca as of Oct. 10, 2017 are eligible to try out. Entry is free and sign-up will be held the day of the each event. -Sports, Fitness and Aquatics has set the 2017 Aquathlon for June 23, July 7 and July 21, 6 a.m. at Irwin Pool. The competition consists of a 300 yard swim (6 laps) and a 3-mile run, out and back. Two-person teams are allowed, with each person completing one of the two events. Team or individual Memorandums of Intent are due by e-mail two days before each event to Awards will be presented to the top 6 teams and the top 6 individuals. Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Gulliver’s Travels” are scheduled for June 26 starting at 9 a.m. at Murr Community Center, Building 51301. Students from 1st through 12th grades are encouraged to sign up to audition beginning May 29, at Parent Central Services, also at Murr, 533-0738. Children must first be registered with Child, Youth and School Services and must pre-register for auditions. However, auditioning does not guarantee a part in the play. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week of June 26-30. More than 50 local students will be cast in the production to be presented on Saturday, July 1, 5 p.m. at Murr Community Center. -Desert Lanes presents “Galactic Strike Night” Saturday nights from 8-10 p.m. Cost is $8 per hour, per person for adults, or $4 per hour for kids 13 and under. This price includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental, and everyone is welcome! For more information, call 533-2849.
