“FMWR asks for your patience while we work with the new Marquees at Van Deman Gate and Irwin Street by the Thunder Mountain Activity Center.  You may see blurry, or bright images as we work with connectivity and software issues, but we hope to have the marquees operational and delivering clear information to you soon.”

-Everyone is invited to celebrate Halloween with Family and MWR Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20 and 21. From 6 to 9 p.m. both days, various free children’s activities will be available. For older kids and adults, the “haunted house” will be open from 6 to 10 p.m.; and then from 7 to 10 p.m., they can enjoy spooky “haunted hay rides.” All activities will be held at Wren Arena–watch for signs. -B.O.S.S. (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) will host their annual Halloween 5K ZOMBIE RUN Saturday, Oct. 21, 6-8 p.m. The run will start and finish at the Warrior/Sentinel Field. Cost is $10 in advance or $15 the day of the run. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners. Sign up to be either a runner or a “zombie” at the front desk of Yardley Community Center, Bldg. 80504. Note: Zombies are not allowed to run. -Child and Youth Services SKIESUnlimited Program offers year-round swimming lessons for youth at Barnes Indoor Pool. Cost is $45 per student per month for eight, 30-minute classes. For more information, including class schedules and age divisions, call CYS Parent Central Office at 533-0738.

-The MWR Arts & Crafts Center offers “Sip & Create” Friday or Saturday, Oct. 20 and 21, 7-9:30 p.m. at the 19th Hole Lounge at Mountain View Golf Course. Cost is $35 per session, per person and includes the 16×20 canvas, paint, aprons and two beverages (wine, beer, soda or water), plus instructions from the artist-in-residence, to create an original piece of art. -The Army Community Service New Parent Support Program will present “Basic Baby Training,” featuring the latest information for expecting dads and dads with infants, Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the ACS Bldg. 50010. -Now is the time to book your holiday parties at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. They offer menus and room sizes for everything from a small event to a grand party! For more information or to make reservations, call 520-533-3802/533-7322, or stop in at TMAC.

-KTK (Knead To Know) Pizza is now open for business during the following hours: Friday, 5-8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday 10 am.-6 p.m. KTK is located inside Yardley Community Center across from Eifler Fitness Center in the former Yardley Dining Facility – just two doors down from the Military Clothing Sales Store. -Buffalo Corral Horseback Riding Stables offers two-hour, guided sunset trail rides every Friday AND Saturday. Exact time depends upon the season. Cost is $45 for Active Duty or $55 for civilians. -The new Fort Huachuca Challenge Course is now available to schedule group events by reservation only. The Challenge Course is a combination of mental and physical challenges requiring groups to work as a team to accomplish goals. Group size can range from 8 to 50 participants. There is no age limitation–only size limitations. Participants must be large enough to fit safely into the harness. Reservations must be made at least seven days prior to the event. -Army Entertainment and MWR present the “Comedy Tour” Show featuring comedian Felipe Esparza, along with special guests Finesse Mitchell and Seaton Smith, Friday, Nov. 10, 7-9 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. Tickets go on sale Oct. 23 at Yardley Community Center or Thunder Mountain Activity Centre, Fort Huachuca, and Ace Hardware in Sierra Vista for $15 each. -Thunder Mountain Activity Centre’s lunch buffet is now served Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu features: Wednesdays, TMAC will be “Famous BBQ Ribs,” and other BBQ selections and sides–Just what you need to get over your mid-week hunger; Thursday features German food, with “Taste of the Rhine;” and Friday they offer the “Fried Fish and Chicken Friday” featuring hand-breaded cod and chicken. Cost of the lunch buffet is $9.95 for adults or $4.75 for children 5-11 years old. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage.
