MWR Huachuca Highlights

Beginning March 20

-Sports, Fitness and Aquatics will offer Parent & Child Aquatics March 28-May 2 at Barnes Indoor Pool. This class helps to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. Parents will also receive safety information and be instructed on techniques to orient their children to the water. Level 1 is offered Tuesdays, 9:30-10 a.m. for children 6-18 months; Level 2 is offered Thursdays, 10-10:30 a.m. for ages 19-36 months. Cost is $40 and a parent must accompany the child to each class. -The next Right Arm Night is set to start at 4 p.m. March 31 at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. The theme for this RAN is “March Madness” (College Basketball). Enjoy free finger foods, a pay-as-you-go bar, and win prizes in drawings and contests. -Thunder Mountain Activity Centre’s lunch buffet is now served Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu features: Wednesdays, TMAC will be “Famous BBQ Ribs,” and other BBQ selections and sides–Just what you need to get over your mid-week hunger; Thursday features German food, with “Taste of the Rhine;” and Friday they offer the “Fried Fish and Chicken Friday” featuring hand-breaded cod and chicken. Cost of the lunch buffet is $9.95 for adults or $4.75 for children 5-11 years old. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage. -Buffalo Corral Horseback Riding Stables holds two-hour, guided sunset trail rides every Friday. Exact time depends upon the season. Cost is $40 for Active Duty or $50 for civilians. -Desert Lanes presents “Galactic Strike Night” Saturday nights from 8-10 p.m. Cost is $8 per hour, per person for adults, or $4 per hour for kids 13 and under. This price includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental, and everyone is welcome! For more information, call 533-2849.

-The MWR Arts & Crafts Center offers “Sip & Create” Friday or Saturday, April 1, 14 or 15, 7-9:30 p.m. at the 19th Hole Lounge at Mountain View Golf Course. Cost is $35 per session, per person and includes the 16×20 canvas, paint, aprons and two beverages (wine, beer, soda or water), plus instructions from the artist-in-residence, to create an original piece of art. -Beginning April 3, Family and MWR will accept applications for food, craft, novelty and other vendors for the Festival of the Southwest, to be held May 6, 7 and 8 at Veterans Memorial Park, Sierra Vista. For more information, call 520-533-2404 or 520-266-8033.

-Celebrate the “Month of the Military Child,” Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Military Kids: At Home Across The World.” This free event will feature activities for the entire family, including games, paintball, giveaways, information booths, horse lead-arounds, free lunch, and much more! -Thunder Mountain Activity Centre invites everyone to join them for the Easter Brunch Buffet Sunday, April 16, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cost is $25 for adults or $12.50 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under will be admitted for free. The buffet features a variety of culinary delights, including a wide selection of delectable breakfast and lunch specialties, salads and desserts. Price also includes a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. Reservations are encouraged by April 7, however walk-ins will be accepted.
