Description:
This
Program provides recreation, leisure,
social, and developmental opportunities for
youth in grades 6 through 12.
The Program offers out-of-school
activities to include the Middle School and
Teen (MST) After-School Program, open
recreation, camps, and special events.
Youth must be registered through the
CYS Services Parent Central Office.
The MST program is offered free of
charge. Youth
can
receive assistance with their homework, hone
their computer skills in the Technology Lab,
and participate in other exciting and
educational opportunities provided in the
Army’s Baseline Programming (mentioned
above). The
MST Program also partners with a number of
on-post organizations and provides field trips
to places of interest.
The Rollin’ Thunder
Skate Park offers youth the opportunity to
participate in skate boarding and
roller-skating in a safe environment.
The park has ramps and rails for youth
who are beginning skaters, as well as
equipment for more advanced skaters.
The Park is open (weather permitting)
from Monday through Saturday and is supervised
by Youth Services Staff.
Additional
Programs for Youth:
Youth ages 15 to 18 can
sign up to participate in a
Workforce-Preparation Apprenticeship Program
(HIRED!), which provides the opportunity to
work after school and on weekends in Family and MWR
operations on the Garrison (e.g., food service
and outdoor recreation).
Each of the four sessions per year is
12 weeks in duration.
For more information or registration
dates for the Hired! Program, please contact
Ms. Debbie Wambach, at 533-3205 or by email at
Deborah.Wambach@us.army.mil.
The Experience, Develop, Grow,
and Excel (EDGE!) Program provides free
classes for youth in a standardized framework,
which includes the following four
interest-area packages: Art EDGE!, Life EDGE!,
Adventure EDGE!, and Fit EDGE!.
The Program has been designed in such a
way as to build partnerships with other Family and MWR
activities.
Classes are conducted during
after-school hours from Monday through Friday
in one-month increments.
The goal is to enhance and expand
current CYS Services programming through a
variety of EDGE! classes provided by Family and MWR
partners.
For current class offerings, please
contact Mr. Eddie Beck, Partnership
Specialist, at 520-533-8437 or by email at Eddie.Beck@us.army.mil.
